The NERS 1:500 Drawing Appreciation course allows delegates to simply understand what lies beneath their feet before they dig.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- read and interpret underground utility and electrical network drawings which are used everyday in the fields
- understand the key features of 1:500 scale plans and drawings
- identify and interpret the standard symbols used for electricity (as well as other utilities)
- apply this knowledge to real job packs. situations and on-site drawings
Assessment
Understanding of the course subject is verified by assessment questions after the learning modules.
Certification
On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a certificate with an expiry date of one year.

The content of this e-learning course is a mandatory requirement for all operatives who need to be authorized as competent under NERS.
It is also essential learning for any individual, at any level of a company, who is involved in utility location and excavation.
