First Aid Annual Refresher Face-to-Face
This course is designed for First aiders who hold a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, to refresh their practical knowledge and confidence in performing the skills.
Description
This half-day annual First Aid Refresher course is for first aiders who hold a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. It is designed to maintain their practical skills and to keep up to date with any updates to first aid practice made between completing their first aid qualification and their renewal.
This course is not certified and does not renew First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work courses.
Aims & Objectives
This course refreshes First Aiders’ knowledge on:
- Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty, a casualty who is choking and a casualty with external bleeding-including how to use CPR and AEDs
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock and to a casualty with minor injuries.
- Providing first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, joints, muscles, as well as injuries to the head, spine and chest
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds or sudden poisoning.
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
- Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis and a casualty with a suspected major illness e.g. a heart attack, stroke or seizure.

Intended For
This course is for people who hold a current First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate and who wish to follow the HSE guidance.
Learning Outcomes
Refresh first aiders’ knowledge of practical skills and their confidence in performing them.
Mode for Delivery
This course led by one of our experienced first aid trainers who will perform practical demonstrations and show a variety of first aid techniques.
Each learner will complete practical tasks to refresh their knowledge and understanding of practical skills.
Assessment of the learning outcomes is completed through observation of the learners’ practical first aid skills during practical tasks.
Onsite Delivery Requirements
A classroom environment with a table and chair for each delegate. There must also be sufficient space in the training room for candidates to carry out the required practical tasks.

Delegates must hold an up to date First aid at Work or an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
