The EUSR Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Permit to Work qualification provides a framework to support safe and legally compliant working practices on gas networks in both routine and non-routine operations, or when working on operational sites.
Description
The EUSR Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Permit to Work qualification provides a framework to support safe and legally compliant working practices on gas networks in both routine and non-routine operations. This scheme enables individuals employed by the gas distribution networks to become a named Competent Person (CP) or an Authorising Engineer (AE) for Permits to Work.
Safe Control of Operations Permit to Work is available either as SCO Permit to Work for Competent Persons (CP) or SCO Permit to Work for Authorising Engineers (AE).
Aims & Objectives
On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

Describe the purpose of a Permit to Work and identify when one may be used

State the importance of risk assessment to a Permit to Work

Describe the key information requirements needed for a Permit to Work

State the process, roles and responsibilities of those involved in planning and execution of a Permit to Work

State the process, roles and responsibilities of all involved in a Permit to Work activity

Final Assessment- both CPs and AEs complete the SCO Question and Answer booklet which includes multiple choice questions, true or false questions, both also complete a Permit to Work audit exercise. AEs also go on to do a Permit to Work form completion exercise.

Prerequisites

Candidates must have nominations from their Reviewing Manager.

All individuals must possess the skills to perform their role, this includes suitable reading and writing abilities.

For Competent Persons, candidates must have the ability, training, knowledge and experience to supervise and/ or carry out work on a site in a safe manner.

All candidates must have completed SCO Core
-
Candidates must have the ability, appropriate training, knowledge and experience to authorise works to be undertaken in a safe and proper manner.
Onsite Delivery Requirements
A classroom environment with a table and chair for each delegate and room for the tutor to move around. This course also requires power, a clear wall or screen for presenting and suitable welfare facilities.
