The City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Gas) allows learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required by those working as part of a construction team on the gas distribution network.
Description
This competence-based qualification covers the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to act as part of a construction team on the gas distribution network. The qualification covers the technical network construction skills required for a network construction assistant or operative, including health, safety and hygiene, and also includes requirements relating to working effectively within the team. Learners must produce evidence to show that they can meet the assessment requirements consistently over time.
Intended For
Level 1 is intended for those who are working under supervision and possibly just starting out in, or are very new to, network construction.
Mode for Delivery
You will learn mainly on the job in the work environment.
Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include practical tasks and oral questioning.
Aims & Objectives
Level 1 is comprised of mandatory and a range of optional units, including:
- Assist in locating and avoiding supply apparatus and sub structures
- Working under supervision, excavate holes and trenches in ground and pavement structures
- Working under supervision, assemble components to meet specifications for network construction operations
- Assist in preparing resources and signing and guarding the area for site works.
Prerequisites
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, as there is a requirement for learners to provide evidence from workplace activities, the learner must be working as part of a team undertaking water network construction activities.
